NAUF Product Information
Rugby is a trusted source for many different types of composite and plywood panels that are NAUF compliant. No Added Urea Formaldehyde (NAUF) products are specifically manufactured by the wood industry to eliminate urea formaldehyde* from the bonding process. In many applications NAUF products contribute to LEED credits, however as listed in the LEED section, both NAUF and FSC product nomenclature contribute the highest LEED value.
*Urea-Formaldehyde is a reference to the type of resin that is used as a bonding agent in some types of plywood and composite wood panels. Formaldehyde is an important industrial chemical used to make other chemicals, building materials and numerous other household products (including cabinets, clothing, draperies, adhesives, paints and coatings). It is one of the large family of chemical compounds called volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). By eliminating urea formaldehyde resin from the product you eliminate the harmful affects of its off gasses which become irritants to the eyes and throat.
